Ales

Ales are typically fermented at higher temperatures than lagers, and use a yeast that floats at the top during the first part of the the fermentation process.  Ales will usually have a sweeter malt than lagers, and are often loaded with hops to add bitterness that counteracts this sweetness.  Ale brews also have a longer history than lagers.  There are several types of brews under the Ale classification.  The list below will help you differentiate one from another and give you my ratings of different Ales that I have tasted for this blog.

Saison / Farmhouse Ales
